Why you should add a night or two in Nairobi
On our main 7 night safari, you go straight to Aberdares after arriving in Kenya, however you can opt to spend a night or two in Nairobi either before your safari or afterwards. And there are two great reasons to do so.
- First, the chance to visit the Giraffe Centre just outside Nairobi where you can hand feed giraffes. What I particularly love about this park is that they are in a natural setting, and share their home with warthogs!
- Second, you can also visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust which cares for orphaned animals, in particular, elephants. Visitors are welcome from 11am to 12 noon each day.
- For a special dining treat, visit Nairobi's Carnivore Restaurant where exotic meats are roasted to perfection in front of you on Masai swords, ready to be served with a variety of salads, vegetables and sauces.
- Finally, for something truly special I would recommend a night at Giraffe Manor, just outside Nairobi, and home to a resident herd of giraffe. All meals and some drinks are included in your stay, and the highlight is often at the breakfast table when the giraffes approach.
